HOW TO PATCH FARLAND STORY 1
--------------------------------------------

To use this translation, you must have the Japanese version of Farland Story 1. The original Floppy Disk Image (FDI) release for this game is most commonly found, but it could be that you have the game installed on a Hard Disk Image (HDI).

--------------------------------------------
- If you don't have either:
--------------------------------------------

Stop reading.

--------------------------------------------
- If you have an FDI version of the game:
--------------------------------------------

You will need to replace specific files on disks A, B and C to make the translation work. The files to be replaced have been put in subdirs "Disk A", "Disk B" and "Disk C" inside this archive.

To replace the files, you need a tool that can open and edit FDI files. An easy-to-use tool that does this comes with the Anex86Ex emulator, it is called Anxdiet.exe. There are others. This file assumes you are using Anxiedit.

If you have used Anxiedit before, You know what to do, so I will assume you haven't when you are reading this. Well then. Double-click the Anxiedit icon in Explorer. Anxiedit will now ask you if it should be the default application for FDI and HDI files. Select both and quit the program (we're doing this the easy way).

Now Anxiedit is associated with FDI's. Whenever you double-click an FDI file (now recognizable by the butt-ugly grey icon), Anxiedit will start and open the FDI. Now all you have to do is drag-and-drop the translation files onto the Anxiedit window, and close it (this is important; Anxiedit does not save until you do). When you have replaced all the files on all three disks in this manner, you are done.

One more thing. Floppy disk users need a 'User Disk' to save their games. An empty User Disk has been provided in this archive. It is called "FS1 User Disk.FDI".

--------------------------------------------
- If you have an HDI version of the game:
--------------------------------------------

All you have to do is replace all the files on the HDI with the translated. They should all be located in the same directory, namely the directory where FS1 is installed. The procedure is the same as for floppy disks described above.
